When state of the art becomes run of the mill ...

"Make visible what,
without you,
might perhaps never have been seen."
~Robert Bresson

I will soon be leaving to begin a new life. To that effect; I will be removing most my work as there are plans to "rebuild" the "Magick Factory" in a new location. I have met some truely wonderful and gifted spirits on this site, so I will always keep, a "book-mark" here at deviant Art so as to remain in contact with those, who have added, light and joy to my heart.
Sad, that So Many Wonderful People[artists] who, I'd come to respect and love-are Gone from here now...The loss of those, now gone, and their contribution to the landscape of deviant Art cannot be expressed with words. Although, a precious "few" remain[they know who they are] and they do, excellent, fabulous, terrific jobs in their capacities-well, because , that's just, the way they roll!*laughs* but, one cannot understand or explain, that sometimes within a certain combination of personalities; something of "magick" is created when they work together. I guess I was lucky to experience them and share in that excitment that was created. There is also, something negetive that happens when a management regime encourages, back stabbing, fear, and inability to promote an environment where there freedom to express is encouraged and welcome even if that expression, differs from "popular" opinion.
That magick is now absent, for me. There is the memory of times, long past, when deviantArt, as a site, used to represent, champion, and encourage "cutting-edge, state-of-the-art"and politically dangerous or "In-Correct" statements that one could aspire to in his/her own work. Many were not "pretty images"...not "safe images", and what's the saddest thing is watching, "State of The Art" become "Run-of-The-Mill". This has Nothing to do in terms of the excellent work, various artists are doing on this site. Those are the artists now one has to really, stumble upon, in one's searches. Those are the ones that made, dA, at one time, such a mind-blowing site; those are the ones who leave. This became, evident to the those of us, in the greatest state of denial, in seeing the selection of "CREATIVE" interpretations, enbracing the theme, "GOOD & EVIL". I'd entered this contest myself, eye-balled some truely, "edgy & gifted submissions"-I still cannot believe the criteria used in this selection. Hell, "not-being selected" was no big deal, in terms of "prize"[I own a wacom tablet and am fortunate to be able to afford to buy, another one-so hell, I could give a rat's azz about that element; I was really hyped to see- what surprizing & inovative talent was going, to blow me-outa the water! "Losing" is cool when those who have demonstated, some form of thought[creativity] in their work from which, to learn from, be awed by, and Inspired! "nuff said... as its not fair to those who were selected, nor is it meant as a put-down. This is The New deviantART, which is NOT deviant, nor New[as in "News], just another, "pretty face" without any substance.
